The Youth Secretary General of the Movement for Democratic Change led by Professor Welshman Ncube Discent Collins Bajila has urged young people to do an overall check up of their health status at least once in three months.
Speaking ahead of the 2018 World Health Day Commemorations which will be held in Harare on the 19th of April Discent collins Bajila said, "We will be commemorating a this year's World Health Day under the theme Universal health coverage: everyone, everywhere. The event is set to draw young people from the Academia, civic society that deal with health rights, the ministry of health and youth policy makers. As we commemorate the day, I would like to encourage every young person to do regular health checks so that the country can continue to have a healthy majority population as you know that young people are the majority of the population."
Bajila further disclosed he does regular HIV tests every 3 months. "I am a Youth leader and I lead by example so I make it certain that I do full blood tests every 3 months. My last result came out HIV negative, diabetes free and the doctor recommended a diet to continue maintaining a healthy body. I also encourage our sisters to undergo breast cancer screening, and pap smear frequently."
Discent Collins Bajila further said the event will highlight policy-makers' power to transform the health of their nation and provide tools for structured policy dialogue on how to advance Universal Health Coverage.
The slogan for the commemorations is "Health for All". The primary hashtag is #HealthForAll and #WorldHealthDay.
