Zanu-PF Chimanimani Senator Monica Mutsvangwa has been appointed Deputy minister of Labour and Social Welfare.
She was sworn in on Friday at State House by President Robert Mugabe
In a brief clip shown on ZTV lunch time news, Mutsvangwa vowed not "sleep, work hard in my portfolio".
She would be under MDC-T Lucia Matibenga who is the minister.
Her husband is Christopher Hatikure Mutsvangwa, the former director of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
She takes over from Tracy Mutinhiri who was fired from Zanu-PF last year.
Mutinhiri was found guilty of failing to discharge her duties as Zanu-PF representative and also guilty of failing to attend party meetings.
She was also accused of boasted to party members that MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai would be the next Head of State as President Mugabe was old.
However, she denied working with MDC-T.
Mutihniri was also accused of voting for MDC-T chairman Lovemore Moyo for Speaker of Parliament. Zanu-PF had fielded its own chairman, Simon Khaya-Moyo, who lost to the MDC-T chairman.
After she was accused of voting for the wrong candidate in an election where a secret ballot was used, she claimed that she had received death threats from Zanu-PF activists.
Zanu-PF claimed that it knew the identities of its MPs who had voted for the MDC-T candidate. Mugabe lashed out at the MPs in public, but never mentioned them by name.
Zanu-PF activists invaded Mutinhiri's farm in Marondera but they were later ordered to leave by party officials.
She later claimed State Security minister Sydney Sekeramayi was behind the invasion because he wanted to replace her with Zanu-PF's provincial secretary for security, Lawrence Katsiru.
Sekeramayi is the senator for the area.
