Zanu-PF hypocritically warns electorate not to vote for 'corrupt' MDC

In a cynical attempt at hypocrisy, Zanu-PF has warned the electorate against voting for MDC-T Councillors in the anticipated harmonised elections.

They claim MDC have destroyed most of the urban local authorities through looting council resources for personal gain.

Speaking after the District Coordinating Committee meeting in Chitungwiza, Zanu-PF Secretary for Lands, who is also Local Government, Rural and Urban Development Minister, Dr Ignatius Chombo said government will not hesitate to fire councillors and council officials found guilty of corruption or abuse of resources.

Zanu-PF say it seeks to protect the electorate as Chombo said: "We have had to intervene in most areas to save local authorities from collapse.

"Chitungwiza's whole system was corrupt to the core so we had to set up a resuscitation team. The levels of corruption in these local authorities are alarming"

Zanu-PF Politburo Member, Tendai Savanhu said reports indicate that most MDC-T led local authorities are not prioritising service delivery and the electorate should draw lessons from the mistakes made in the 2008 harmonised elections.

"The mistakes made by our people in 2008 are there for all to see.

"The local authorities especially Harare and Chitungwiza are dominated by MDC-T and the service delivery has collapsed.

"We have received reports about a resuscitation team put in place by government to save the people from these unruly characters."

Zanu-PF are veterans at corruption with no comeuppance, and MDC have bitten themselves in the foot if they thought they could do the same and get away with it.

Corruption was always a stick Zanu-PF was going to beat MDC with in what many see as 'seeing a splint in your brother's eye while you have a log in yours.'
