Zanu-PF says the forthcoming primary elections will ensure that members have a chance to select candidates of their choice and has committed itself to ensuring that the vetting process and conduct of the internal elections is done in a transparent manner.
In an interview ahead of the Zanu-PF Politburo meeting scheduled for this Friday, Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration, Dr Obert Mpofu said the party is satisfied with the processes and procedures done so far ahead of the primary elections and assured party members that the internal elections will give an opportunity to the party supporters to select candidates of their choice.
"At the end of it all, we want people to freely choose the candidates they want. We want to assure the members that they will be allowed to select the candidates of their choice through the holding of transparent primary elections," he said.
Dr Mpofu added that Friday's Politburo meeting will focus on the primary elections, in particular the vetting of curricula vitae (CVs) brought forward from the various provinces to the National Elections Directorate in Harare for consideration.
The revolutionary party will hold primary elections on the 5th of May to elect council and parliamentary candidates, who will represent the party in the forthcoming harmonised polls.
