Mt Pleasant independent candidate for 2018 Fadzayi Mahere has urged the government to issue a press statement on foul-mouthed deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Development Terence Mukupe's stigmatization of HIV.
Mukupe angrily protested against Tendai Biti live on Star FM after he was labelled drunk and in the process asked if Biti had taken his ARVs.
Mahere took it to micro blogging tweeter saying, "I hope the Govt issues a press statement condemning Mukupe's utterances as reckless &most unfortunate. There's no honor in mocking /stigmatizing HIV.
"It's a matter of regret that he weaponized an issue the nation has made so much progress on.
"Politics aside, this is sad."
HIV/AIDS affects many people and families in Zimbabwe and an estimated 1.4 million Zimbabweans are living positively yet a deputy Minister stigmatizes the issue.
Mukupe who is no stranger to controversy has proved to be loose canon, grabbing the headlines for the wrong reasons. Government and his party ZANU PF where recently forced to issue a press statement condemning utterances by the deputy minister when he said the military would not allow Chamisa to take over the presidency if he wins.
The deputy minister amongst his litany of misdeeds assaulted an employee at the Finance ministry for allegedly giving him a paltry $910 travel allowance.
