Norton town will benefit from the first ever Chinese commercial bank to be constructed by a Chinese investment company.

With President Emmerson Mnangagwa's re-engagement process to attract investors bearing fruit,  a Chinese company Ever Bright is set to build the first ever commercial bank in Norton to compete with other international banks.

In an interview with the ZBC News on the sidelines of a rally in Norton, Chinese businessman Mr Li Bo said they have made all the necessary arrangements with the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe to open the bank.

Special Adviser to the President Chris Mutsvangwa also noted that Norton will improve in different ways once the bank is set up.

"The bank has the potential to improve the banking sector in the country as we are currently facing foreign currency shortages which is critical in driving the economy," said Ambassador Mutsvangwa.

President Mnangagwa visited China in April where a number of deals were sealed with Chinese companies.
