The ZANU PF leadership in Masvingo's Mwenezi District has come up with strong teams to oversee campaigns for President Mnangagwa, the party's National Assembly and local government candidates in the forthcoming harmonised election set for July 30, a senior party official has said. Masvingo's provincial secretary for transport and welfare, Renias Muchoko said last week that the teams comprised eight members.
"We have come up with eight campaign teams for Mwenezi district made up of eight members," said Muchoko.
"In these teams we have war veterans and those candidates who lost primary elections. The idea is to mix those with in-depth knowledge of the party and liberation struggle with others who are close to their people."
He said all teams were led be the two national assembly candidates and those vying for local government elections. Muchoko said the party was confident of a thunderous victory for President Mnangagwa in Mwenezi.
Josbi Omar and Priscilah Zindari Moyo will represent the party in the national assembly elections in East and West constituencies respectively.
"As Zanu PF, we will not leave any stone unturned since we want to consolidate our supremacy in Mwenezi district.
"We are targeting at least 90 000 votes in both constituencies. We have included all those who lose during primary elections in the party's campaign teams as a way of enhancing unity and a culture of working together," he said.
He said review meetings, chaired by the candidates will be held periodically to measure progress and noting challenges.
Mwenezi East's national assembly member and candidate Josbi Omar said the campaigning teams would to add value and complement their (candidates') work on the ground.
