The Zanu-PF Youth League says the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) should be allowed to perform its constitutional mandate of running the country's elections without interference from any political party or organisation.
Zanu-PF Secretary for Youths Affairs, Pupurai Togarepi told thousands of the party supporters at a youth convention in Chivhu that political parties and other organisations should stop interfering with ZEC over the running of elections as it is an independent body.
"As Zanu-PF, we are not happy with what some political parties are doing in trying to interfere with the electoral process. ZEC should be allowed to do its work independently," he said.
Guest speaker at the event, Zanu-PF Politburo member, Dr Sydney Sekeramayi called upon the youths to act as the party's political commissars in mobilising the masses to vote for the revolutionary party in the harmonised elections.
"I urge all the youths in this country to go out as the political commissars and mobilise the youths to vote for Zanu-PF so that the party wins resoundingly," he said.
The youths convention was attended by youths from the eastern region which include Mashonaland East, Masvingo, Manicaland and Midlands provinces.
