Mnangagwa to meet President Xi

President Emmerson Mnangagwa's participation at this year's Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) is expected to inject new vitality into the relationship between the Asian economic powerhouse and Zimbabwe.
The President has been invited by the Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the 7th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit which kicks off in Beijing this Saturday.
Addressing a media briefing at the Chinese embassy in Harare this Thursday, the charge d'affaires Mr Zhao Baogang said the summit will accord the heads of state an opportunity to review progress made between China and the African continent in the last three years.
Mr Baogang revealed President Mnangagwa is one of the few African leaders that will hold bilateral talks with President Jinping and the two leaders are expected to discuss a number of projects that are being undertaken by the Chinese and potentially plan some new ones.
During his state visit to China in April this year, President Mnangagwa managed to secure a number of deals to expedite the country's socio-economic recovery agenda including agreements on economic and technical co-operation and human resources development among others.
The forum will bring together 53 African countries which have diplomatic relations with China.
The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation is one of the most efficient instruments strengthening cooperation between China and Africa in various sectors.
A number of projects on the African continent are benefiting from China's construction capacity and financial contributions.
