Zanu-PF in fire fighting meetings

Zanu-PF has organised a series of meetings in Bulawayo in an attempt to win back seats that they lost in the city since the inception of MDC in 1999.
Acting Provincial chairman Killian Sibanda said senior party members would hold various meetings "encourage the people to take part in the indigenisation programme."
"The elders have always been in touch with the people in their respective areas but this one is a set programme specifically meant for the senior members to address the people," said Sibanda.
The meetings come at the back drop of a fierce row between party big wigs over the suspension of provincial chairman Isaac Dakamela on allegations of corruption and insubordination replacing him with Sibanda.
Shamu visited the Bulawayo province last month to solve Dakamela's suspension but the meeting was inconclusive and was deferred to a date yet to be announced.
Last year party Dakamela clashed with party youths over the invasion of buildings. Dakamela was accused of protecting members of the white and Indian communities.
"The recent clashes within party structures have damaged us. The party wants to spruce its image so that we can perform better in the upcoming elections," said a Zanu-PF insider.
