MDC President Nelson Chamisa has ridiculed the demonstrators alleging that they engaged in rat demonstrations which is not synonymous with the nature and character of MDC.

Chamisa was speaking at the press conference held at Morgan Tsvangirai House on Thursday.

"I actually did not know about the first August event. I only heard about it from some other person who called me, and I will mention the name of the person at the appropriate time." said Chamisa

"MDC does not organise those tiny little ad hoc demonstrations. We are not an ad hoc party We are not a rat organisation we are an elephant organisation. When we organise things we organise elephant things not these funny things that they say we did.

"Whoever organised those demonstrations was stupid. How can you demonstrate against a result that you have not yet seen?"

Chamisa accused the commission of acting a rehearsed script and dared them to invite also President Emmerson Mnangagwa to the hearing if they want him to come and appear.

"They must invite Mnangagwa, Chiwenga and Mohadi also.If Mnangagwa does not go why should I go alone? The commission is working from the answer going backwards. It is a script and the script is to decimate the opposition.

"Instead of being thanked for trying to preserve peace in this country, I am being attacked."

On Thursday MDC leader Nelson Chamisa and the party deputy chairman Tendai Biti were invited to come and share their views by the Commission of Inquiry probing the August 1 post-election violence.

In letters to the two MDC leaders dated November 14, the former South African President Kgalema Motlanthe, who is chairing the inquiry, said the two men had been mentioned as among those who played a part in inciting the violence of August 1, 2018.
