THE Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development is in the process of expanding the toll gate in Esigodini to ease traffic congestion during the Zanu-PF Conference to be held at Mzingwane High School next month.
Zanu-PF secretary for finance Patrick Chinamasa on Monday requested the Ministry to consider expanding the toll gate to allow the smooth flow of traffic during the conference.
He made the request during a joint national and provincial committee preparatory meeting at Esikhoveni Training Centre in Umzingwane.
"We're expecting more than 5 300 delegates to attend the conference. This means the Esigodini toll gate will be busier than usual due to heavy flow of traffic. The highway will also have more vehicles using it since we're approaching the festive season.
"We therefore hope that the ministry of transport is putting in place measures to make sure that the payment process at the toll gate is faster. Most of our delegates will be accommodated in Bulawayo and they will be passing through the toll gate everyday," said Chinamasa.
An official from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development told the meeting that they were already working with Zinara to expand the toll gate to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the conference.
Zanu-PF's Politburo set December 10 to 15 as the dates for the conference while accreditation started on November 15 and is ending on December 1.
The conference will be held under the theme, "Zimbabwe is open for business: In Unity and Peace towards an Upper Middle Income Economy by 2030."
