Tendai Biti appears before Motlanthe Commission

Harare East MP Tendai Biti appeared before the Kgalema Motlanthe Commission of Inquiry.
He said he is doing so under protest because he was not given a transcript of allegations made against him, despite six written requests.
He is also protesting President Emmerson Mnangagwa's appointment of the commission because he says he is conflicted.
"Mnangagwa had no legal basis for setting up inquiry because he is conflicted by virtue of Section 213 of the Constitution. If we follow the strict dictates of constitutionalism and natural justice, Mnangagwa could not appoint a commission to investigate his own conduct," said Biti.
Biti also laid into some of the commissioners.
"The question is not whether they are biased, but the perception out there," he says of UZ lecturer, Charity Manyeruke, UK, lawyer Rodney Dixon and former Tanzanian defence chief Davis Mwamunyange.
He also questions the terms of references given to the commission.
