Chamisa takes the fight to SADC,AU

MDC President Nelson Chamisa has announced that he has written a petition to SADC and the African Union inviting them to assist the nation in resolving the legitimacy sticking point surround the election of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Chamisa was addressing a rally at Africa Unity Square Harare on Thursday.

"We have written a petition to our parliament, SADC and the African Union. We are calling these organs to assist in resolving the problems bedevilling this country. I will be meeting the President of Namibia  Hage Geingob to articulate to him the issues that are happening in this country." Chamisa said.

"I will also be meeting the African Union Chairperson Paul Kgagame to do the same thing.

"The crisis of facing Zimbabwe is the legitimacy crisis, contestation on who was voted by the people. This petition speaks about reloading  democracy, rule of law and peace in Zimbabwe."

Chamisa also took the opportunity to invite President Emmerson Mnangagwa to sit down with him for talks and they find a last solution to the problems happening in the country.

George Charamba told the media on Wednesday that President Emmerson Mnangagwa says he is open to talks with opposition leader Nelson Chamisa. However, any such dialogue would be on the strict understanding that Chamisa and the MDC recognised the Zanu PF leader as the legitimate winner of the hotly disputed July 30 presidential election.
