MDC National Chairperson Tabitha Khumalo has alleged that she has received death threats after leading Members of Parliament to reject President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the legitimate President of Zimbabwe.
"Zita rangu ndinonzi Death. Mafreedoms nemarights amunoda kukoshesa aya be careful kuti security in numbers haiwanzobatsira kana wawega. We are gunning for you," reads the message that Khumalo claims received.
The message simple translated says: My name is Death. The rights that you are prioritising becareful because when you are alone you will be in trouble.
Last week Khumalo and fellow MDC member of parliament Lynette Karenyi were hospitalized after being beaten by police officers at parliament building.
The opposition MPs refused to stand up to show respect to President Emmerson Mnangagwa when he entered the building.
They said the regard him as an illegitimate President. This prompted the Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Medenda to ask them to move out and they refused. Police were invited to come and forcibly remove them from parliament building.
