MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has called upon Zimbabweans to commit to peace in solving the challenges that triggered the violent protests that were followed by a brutal crackdown on citizens by the army and the police.
Posting on twitter on Thursday night Chamisa said, "Our country is going through one of its worst moments. My thoughts are with the victims of violence. Despite the vitriol, we maintain a dignified position befitting our role as led by the people. We remain committed to peace in solving the challenges that triggered the turmoil."
When people asked if he was after a wide circulating message claiming he had been abducted Chamisa said his safety is tied to the people's safety.
"I'm only safe when all of us are safe my dear," Chamisa replied. "I'm extremely concerned about the well-being of those being persecuted and made to suffer for no apparent reason. I share the pain.we must correct the wrong and fix the broken!
Chamisa also took the time call upon the government of Zimbabwe to open up internet services so that people can communicate.
"Zimbabwe should open internet before it can open for business. Shutting down the internet as done proves that some pay lipservice to their call of duty. Command policies is not how a modern government is run."
Meanwhile the MDC National Spokesperson Jacob Mafume reported that state agents yesterday abducted the MDC Youth Secretary General, Chinoputsa's 58 year old mother.
On Thursday evening government again instructed Internet Service providers to shut down internet services raising speculation that internet was open so that the Central Bank can transfer installments to the company that hired a private jet to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
