MDC leader further detained

The Zimbabwe Republic Police Has applied for further detention opposition Movememnt for Democratic Change Organising Secretary Amos Chibaya to Saturday while they carry out further investigations.
This was revealed by the MDC Deputy Treasurer General Charlton Hwende in a statement on Thursday.
"The police applied for a warrant for further detentions for Honourable (Amos) Chibaya which the magistrate granted up to tomorrow to enable the police to record statements and obtain a copy of the Daily News of the 2nd Jan which means that they carried an unrest in Order to investigate (sic)." Hwende revealed.
Chibaya was arrested on Tuesday and charged with plotting to subvert a constitutional elected government.
He was re-detained shortly his before release after the High Court had ordered his release on Tuesday.
Chibaya joins the growing list of activists who have been slapped with this charge over the past two weeks.
He is being charged under s22 of the Criminal Law Act. If found guilty he faces up to twenty years in prison without the option of a fine.
