Zanu-PF supporters have been called on to ignore desperate attempts by the opposition MDC Alliance and social media political activists who are trying to sow seeds of division through fabricating lies of discord in the party and government.
Social media has over the past few weeks been awash with tales of perceived simmering disharmony in government and the ruling Zanu-PF with some of the stories suggesting irreconcilable differences between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Retired General Dr Constantino Chiwenga.
Ridiculous reports of a coup and an attempt to impeach President Mnangagwa have also been made.
Addressing party supporters in Gokwe Nembudziya, area legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena said the Zanu-PF party supporters must remain focused on economic development and consolidating the peace and unity prevailing in the country and the party.
Honourable Wadyajena said though painful now, the austerity measures introduced by the new dispensation are already starting to bear results, adding that in six months, tangible benefits of the policies will be there for all to see.
He also expressed gratitude to the people of Gokwe for refusing to be coerced in the riotous demonstrations organised by the ZCTU and the MDC Alliance a few weeks ago, and called on police to arrest a group of hooligans who blocked roads and threatened people at Nembudziya Growth Point during the demonstrations.
