The Movement for Democratic Change says the outrageous demands by Zanu-PF for wholesome changes to the agreed Draft Constitution published in the press a few weeks ago conflicts with the views of the people of Zimbabwe and is only meant to create a deadlock in the process.
This was said during a diplomatic briefing at Harvest House today by Douglas Mwonzora, the MDC-T spokesperson. He cited Zanu-PF's 29 page document that demands non-devolution of power, exclusive executive powers, unilateral presidential appointments among other issues.
"Having failed to influence the people of Zimbabwe via state media propaganda, Zanu-PF is clear that the people of Zimbabwe will overwhelmingly vote for the draft constitution. Therefore it wants to create a deadlock in the process and prevent the making of the constitution."
"The MDC-T is of the opinion that the move by Zanu-PF is only meant to delay and derail the process," said Hon Mwonzora.
