Mohadi calls for unity

Vice President Kembo Mohadi has urged Zanu-PF Matabeleland South Province that has been rocked by divisions since the election period to close ranks and focus on rebuilding the party ahead of the 2023 polls.
The second secretary of the party was speaking during a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting in Gwanda today (Saturday).
He expressed concern over the apparent lack of unity that exists within the province.
"We are aware that some fissures might have emanated from the primary elections but we are now saying let's bury the hatchet. We need to sit down as leaders in Matabeleland South and iron out our differences. We are so divided and that is not good for the party," Mohadi said.
He added that it is only through unity of purpose that the party can deliver on the promises made to the people, which include turning around the country's economy.
"We need unity, unity, unity, love and development. We have said as a government we will devolve power to the provinces. You will come up with priorities that we will fund as central government so that we develop your areas," he said.
The Vice President, who is also responsible for national healing and reconciliation in government, spoke against tribalism, saying there is need for Zimbabweans to embrace each other in their diversity .
Zanu-PF Politburo member, Abednico Ncube said the message of unity delivered by the Vice President should be cascaded to the grassroots so that the party can move ahead with a common vision.
"We have all received the message from the Vice President. I certainly hope that we will take it down to the people so that we can rebuild our party," he said.
The meeting also discussed President Emmerson Mnangagwa's meet the people rally, with the leaders identifying the venue for the event as Manama in Gwanda South.
The date for the rally is yet to be announced.
