Zanu-PF has started the process of amending its constitution in line with new vision of the second republic to match regional political set-ups.

The Zanu-PF Politburo has already given the green-light for the amendment of some old sections of the constitution to match other regional standards.

The party's Secretary for Administration, Dr Obert Mpofu confirmed that a committee has already been set up to revisit some outdated sections especially positions of secretaries in the Politburo up the Presidium.

"Consultations that will pave way for the amendment of the constitution have been sanctioned by the Politburo. So we have already put in place a committee which is working on the modalities. For example, the positions of secretaries are outdated and they will be amended up to the Presidium," said Dr Mpofu.

At the end of the process, the Zanu-PF constitution should speak to the second republic's new vision and aspirations.

"We are moving from the old way of running things, the new dispensation has its own line of thinking so to achieve it, the amendments will tackle such issues," explained Dr Mpofu.

Information at hand and confirmed by some Zanu-PF researchers indicates that positions such as that of Secretary General (SG)will be introduced into the constitution in line with other liberation front line states in the Southern African region and beyond.
