The opposition Movement for Democratic Change has rubbished reports by Minister of Home Affairs Cain Ndabazekhaya Ginyilitshe Mathema that there is a planned workshop in Bulawayo which is aimed at formulating a strategy to illegally remove the government of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Speaking at a Press Conference on Tuesday MDC Spokesperson Jacob Mafume said, "Similar fake intelligence reports have been used to target members of the opposition and CSO leders like Rashid Mahiya before.
"A few days ago the leadership of the MDC addressed a press conference where there was an attempt to frame the Secretary General of the MDC Douglas Mwonzora alleging that he had written a letter to the police accusing Nelson Chamisa and Tendai Biti of being behind the violence that occurred in January."
Mafume said the MDC was a law-abiding organization that was committed to peaceful and democratic processes.
"The creation of fake letters and fake conferences is an infantile attempt by the Minister and by the government to justify the killing of innocent Zimbabweans."
