MDC Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora is not in hiding an MDC senior official has said. The Harare based official who spoke on position of anonymity told this publication the MDC MP has been going on about in his usual business.
"We have seen the reports that the SG has gone into hiding but I would like to authoritatively inform you that those rumours are false. He has appeared in public places contrary to the story. The SG was in parliament on Tuesday and he was billed to attend the Standing Committee meeting on Wednesday at the party headquarters."
The source said Mwonzora will be in Midlands on Friday where contesting MDC leaders will be unveiling their manifestos.
"The SG will also be in Gweru on Friday. You will see that the story is fake and created by people who want to cause alarm in the party. We will not have any of that. We are not undeterred."
The reports on Thursday had alleged that Mwonzora has allegedly gone into hiding amid reports that party youths are baying for his blood over his links with the High Court ruling that nullified Nelson Chamisa's appointment.
The reports say that a group of party youths, popularly known as the Vanguards, have also been seen surrounding party vice President Elias Mudzuri's Milton Park home in Harare, singing derogatory songs. The youths accused Mudzuri of undermining Chamisa, saying Mudzuri sponsored the High Court application by a Gokwe MDC official which resulted in yesterday's ruling.
