Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF party has congratulated its sister liberation movement, the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa for winning the 2019 elections.
The ANC won the national majority vote with 57.51 percent.
Although the party's win is significantly lower than the 62.15 percent they won in the 2014 election, it is still a solid majority and a strong mandate for Cyril Ramaphosa's presidency.
Zanu PF Secretary for Finance Patrick Chinamasa who was leading a Zimbabwean delegation that observed the elections in neighbouring South Africa conveyed the party's congratulatory message.
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) of South Africa announced the official results this Saturday (today), giving a breakdown of the calculations of how the contesting parties performed in the national assembly, national council of provinces and each of the nine provincial legislatures.
