The ever increasing price of fuel is bound to cause civil unrest in the country gender activist Lina Masarira-Kaingidza has warned.
Linda's warning comes after the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority announced new prices of fuel on Tuesday morning.
"Fuel is a critical commodity for the state. Allowing market forces to determine the price of fuel is not the solution to the fuel crisis at hand. These fuel price hikes are a state security threat, it will cause food, rent price hikes, inflation, erosion of salaries and civil unrest."Masarira said.
Masarira added that its time Zimbabweans liberate themselves from this system that causes poverty.
"Since our government has decided to escalate our poverty to another level, it is now time the "have nots" to restore economic sanity & liberate ourselves from poverty. We will not allow the fuel cartels, corrupt government officials and sweetheart opposition parties to destroy us."
Talking directly to the new Minister of Energy Advocate Fortune Chasi she said, "Fuel price hikes is not the solution Fortune Chasi and ZERA. The trick to solving the fuel crisis is to liberalize fuel importation and supply into the country before making any change in the pricing variants. As a nation we should not rely on one pipe line for supply."
