Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Alliance president Nelson Chamisa will introduce term limits for all key positions in the party including trimming the three vice presidential seats to remain with one.

He told journalists in Harare on Thursday that leaders must have a defined life span at the helm.

"There are a number of far reaching changes that we are implementing as a party. We are beginning to implement something that that has been absent or removed  and its the issue of term limits."

"We must introduce term limits for all key positions in the party," he said.

Chamisa said MDC –A will be reverting to a single vice president as opposed to three that are currently in place.

"The party also is going to revert to a single vice presidency as opposed to three. There is no need for us to have three vice presidents, we need one vice president," he said.

"Leaders must be able to lead and leave. Leaders must not lead and lead and lead and remain leading, we must allow leaders to lead and go," he said.

MDC plans to strengthen party grassroots by branches instead of districts and wards so as to for them to be effective in elections.

"We are strengthening our grassroots structures to make the party more effective in elections. Every polling station has to be a branch of the MDC," he said .

Chamisa said all MDC leaders are then going to be deployed from the branches.

On Thursday, MDC redeployed some senior party members and retained ousted vice president Elias Mudzuri in the national standing  committee  amid speculation that his defeat was a final nail in the coffin of his political career.

Currently, Lynnette Karenyi Kore, Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti are MDC three Vice Presidents.
