Zanu-PF has unveiled its Nkayi ward 23 bye-election candidate, with calls for villagers to safeguard their interests by rallying behind him.
Nkayi ward 23 fell vacant following the death of Counsellor Jana Sibanda.
In introducing the party's candidate to villagers at the Canaan Business Centre, Nkayi south Member of Parliament, Stars Mathe, described the candidate, Qhubani Nyoni as the son of the area who was dependable and possessed a proven track record of service to the party.
"Nyoni is your son. All his parents were born here. Now he is here to be your servant and messenger. He is not your king or slave master. He will walk in my footsteps and we shall work hand in glove. If I am absent, due to my parliamentary duties, he will take my place and you can direct all your queries to him. He will listen to all you have to say and represent you fully in the Nkayi Rural District Council," Mathe said.
Nyoni, who is currently the Zanu-PF ward 23 youth chairman, expressed his desire to work for his community pledging to see to it that all projects in the area are completed.
"Your children are travelling long distances to school yet solutions are continually spoken about without any action owing to failure to complete the entire chain to the ruling party. I'm sure you will connect it and would like to let you know that I will be your servant to run with all your desires," said Nyoni.
Nyoni will tussle it off with other candidates for the 3 August 2019 bye-election.
Party supporters that thronged the event were called upon to work with Nyoni in order to safeguard the development of their area.
