Zanu-PF National Chairman, Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo says the revolutionary party should continue to seek ways to cultivate and produce cadres who are economically empowered, with a deep understanding of politics in their country and the world around them.
Ambassador Khaya Moyo was speaking in Harare at a one day Zanu-PF Commissariat Political Education workshop held on the backdrop of the visit by Chinese political experts.
Ambassador Moyo said the visit by Chinese experts to deliver a series of lectures on party building and the role of the party in formulating economic policies is important as it will equip Zanu-PF cadres with knowledge to craft people-centred socio-economic programmes.
Ambassador Moyo also took the opportunity to announce that the county is already in an election mood, adding that party leaders at all levels should gear themselves for the mission that is set to determine the survival and continuation of Zanu-PF as a revolutionary party.
Zanu-PF National Political Commissar, Webster Shamu said the workshop will assist the party in its restructuring of DCCs ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The Chinese experts spoke of the need for party members to be disciplined, and focused by sticking to the party constitution, as well as promoting economic empowerment and formulating policies and theories that unite and strengthen the party.
Professor Wu Shumin said the socio-economic development in China is benchmarked on the party's media, economic research, turning theories into practice, good organisational capacity as well as the continued opening up of China to the World.
Member of the Zanu-PF Politburo, Charles Tavengwa urged party members to implement what they have learnt from the CPC party experts.
He said there are a number of developmental programmes Zanu-PF has put in place that are similar to the China initiative, citing the decentralisation of growth points as one of them.
Delegates at the one day workshop said the theme for the workshop, "empowering minds to empower the nation" is in line with the party's empowerment and indigenisation programme.
