Top Zanu-PF officials are using the party's name to indulge in corrupt activist, Zanu-PF youth league secretary Pupurai Togarepi told a local daily paper as he threatened to name and shame those who allegedly parcelled out land illegally in several urban centres around the country.
Togarepi said they have a long list and many people in the party are on it. They are mainly land barons who do what they do in the name of the party and many others in the opposition who have taken lead in illegally allocating of State land, hence fleecing unsuspecting home seekers.
Zanu-PF's Youth League has commended the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zaac) for swooping on alleged corrupt senior Government and party officials who were reportedly amassing wealth and enriching themselves at the expense of the generality of Zimbabweans.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Collaborators' Association (Zilwaco) national conference in Gweru yesterday, deputy youth secretary Lewis Matutu said the crusade against corrupt officials was long overdue.
Zanu-PF Youth League has compiled a fresh list of top Government officials, parastal bosses and political bigwigs fingered in corrupt activities which will soon be announced as the party scales up efforts to fight corruption in all its facets.
The ruling party's deputy secretary for youth affairs, Lewis Matutu, said names of Zanu-PF members will be submitted to a Commission of Inquiry in line with the party guidelines while those of corrupt elements from the parastatals, public and the private sector will be read out to the public straight away.
Matutu said the Commission of Inquiry in question, will be appointed by President Mnangagwa. This, he said, would ensure the youths do not jump the gun.
