MDC Midlands has embarked on outreach programmes in all districts to rally its supporters to enroll at the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai School of Ideology.

Searchmore Muringani, the MDC Midlands deputy provincial spokesperson said the resolution to go to the grassroots was arrived at a meeting held on Saturday in Gweru.

"The MDC Midlands provincial executive met in Gweru on Saturday July 27, 2019 to map out strategies on rolling out the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai School of Ideology Development (SOLID). The members agreed to send provincial leaders to district assemblies to lay out the vision and goals of the SOLID programme so that our supporters enroll enmass at the appropriate time," he said.

Muringani said at the district assemblies, the provincial leaders also unpack the MDC's new action plan document dubbed Return to Economic Recovery, Legitimacy, Openness and Democracy, or simply RELOAD.

"The emergency meetings will be a must attend for every member of the party in line with president Nelson Chamisa's call for decisive action after the seven days of national prayer," added the deputy spokesperson.

Takavafira Zhou, MDC Midlands spokesperson revealed that emergency district meetings were held on Sunday and yesterday.

"Meetings took place in most urban areas such as Zvishavane-Ngezi, Gweru and Kwekwe and progressed on Monday as well. There are, however, challenges in rural areas given the limited notice time. It is always advisable for the leadership not to use urban methodology and impose it on rural constituencies given the broad geographical nature of the rural areas," he said.

The Morgan Richard Tsvingarai School of Ideology will be located in Harare and opposition members from all the 10 provinces will be expected to enroll. Lessons on democracy and good governance will conducted with an aim of entrenching values of the MDC and the direction the party is taking in its agenda to remove Zanu-PF from power, resulting in it forming the next government."
