Reports from Uganda indicate that the country's oposition leader Bobi Wine has been charged with intending to alarm, annoy or ridicule President Yoweri Yoweri kaguta Museveni.
He is also being charged with inciting violence after being accused of calling on his supporters to physically harm the president.
Wine who was the guest of honour at the May MDC Congress is already facing a treason charge over the incident, and is currently out on bail.
If convicted, he, along with 35 others charged with him, could face a sentence of up to life imprisonment.
Pop musician Wine, who entered parliament in 2017, has emerged as a leading critic of Museveni and has faced multiple detentions while authorities have frustrated his efforts to perform.
South Africa's Julius Malema is on record saying Wine is an inspiration to them.
