The Draft Constitution submitted to the principals of the Global Political Agreement has come under heavy criticism with pro-Zanu-PF legal experts saying the document has been further contaminated by the management committee to subvert the views of the people.

The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Justice speaking through its national coordinator, Advocate Martin Dinha, told "the Zbc" that the draft constitution presented to the Principals by the management committee showed that both the Copac and the management committee have tampered with the views of the people.

"We appeal to the principals to scrutinize and refine the document to protect the country sovereignty by ensuring the interests of people prevail," said Advocate Dinha.

Zimbabwe Institute of Legal Studies Chairman Godwills Masimirembwa who insists that views of the people gathered during the outreach program have been subverted is of strong belief that the principals will not allow such a wrong and contaminated draft to go to the people.

"Why should wrong things be allowed to be done, the draft has no source, no official Copac report on the results of the outreach programme, there are more questions than answers over the so called draft. The principals should reject it," said Masimirembwa.

Some of the sections of the draft constitution which came under the spotlight are Chapter 5, Section 5.1 on executive powers, Chapter 14.9 on the appointment of governors, clause 15.1 on status of traditional leaders among a host other grey areas which experts feels will render the whole draft constitution treacherous and unacceptable.

The draft constitution has also been distributed to parliament for familiarisation.
