Several Zanu-PF bigwigs including Cabinet ministers survived a tension-filled vetting process at the weekend as the ruling party chose candidates for its district coordinating committees.
Chegutu East MP and his wife Constance as well as Finance deputy minister Clemence Chiduwa were among some of the candidates cleared for the DCC elections while other notable names include former GMB manager Tendai Chasauka, Magunje MP Cecil Kashiri, his Makonde counterpart Kindness Paradza and Gokwe-Nembudziya MP Justice Mayor Wadyajena.
Meetings of the party's provincial coordinating committees held in eight provinces over the weekend had also been marred by allegations of factionalism, tribalism, and name-dropping.
Leaked audio from Zanu-PF political commissar Victor Matemadanda who says that some people are using money to destroy the party and that some are publishing pictures with the President in order to avoid arrest.
