'Unity Accord is indissoluble' says Zanu-PF

Zanu-PF has dismissed suggestions by breakaway ZAPU faction leader, Dumiso Dabengwa that it is no longer necessary for Zimbabwe to retain a clause providing for a dual vice-presidency.
Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Rugare Gumbo told the State media that the 1987 Unity Accord, which is the basis of the dual vice presidency is non-negotiable as it is not about individuals.
Gumbo said the arrangement which saw the two parties; Zanu PF and (PF) ZAPU come up with the dual vice presidency is premised on a total quest for unity among Zimbabweans which no one has a right to temper with.
"The Unity Accord is indissoluble. We are not talking about individuals as it came out of a collective effort of people who dissolved their central committees," said Gumbo.
Dabengwa was quoted addressing journalists in Bulawayo last Friday where he called for the abolishment of the clause providing for a dual vice-presidency.
