A 32-year old man from Unit L in Chitungwiza was found dead this Friday morning in a suspected case of suicide.
The body of Munetsi Mungazi was found lying less than 200 metres from his house at Number 18588 in Seke Unit L, Chitungwiza.
The circumstances surrounding Mungazi's death were still unclear, but the wife Angelina Konje confirmed that he had returned home after midnight, left some groceries and immediately left to park his vehicle at a nearby car park, but never came back.
"Of late he had been coming home late, well after midnight, so when he came in and left I just thought he had gone back to where he usually spends his evenings. We had no quarrels at all except that he had been coming home late for quite sometime," she said.
Mungazi's lifeless body which was lying 50 metres from the car park where he had left his vehicle was discovered by some people who were on their way to work at around five in the morning.
Some small bottles with a yellowish substance suspected to be poison were found beside the corpse.
Acting Harare provincial spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Tarirai Dube confirmed that the two bottles found near the deceased's body contained poison, but said investigations are underway, adding that tests have to be carried out to ascertain the cause of death.
A post-mortem on the body will be conducted at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.
