The 266th ordinary session of the Zanu PF Politburo which ended early this Saturday morning at the party headquarters in Harare has resolved the Manicaland discord following the adoption of the recommendations by the probe team tasked to find a lasting solution to the challenge.
In an interview with the Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Rugare Gumbo told the state media that the extensive discussions on the issue revealed that the problems in Manicaland were merely about personalities not political differences and ideologies, adding that the same template to resolve issues affecting the party will be applied to all the other areas affecting the party.
"It was a no holds barred discussion that we had since Friday afternoon. We were able to resolve the challenges facing the party and the leaders from that province agreed that they will work together for the good of the party.
"It has since been noted that the problems in that province were not political but merely of personalities," said Gumbo.
The Politburo also made significant progress in finalising the rules and regulations that will apply during the conduct of elections with suggestions taking into consideration the input for amendments to be made on the document.
He said: "We were able to be 95 percent through with the issue of the rules and regulations governing the conduct of primary elections and as such we are considering inputs from other members and these will be made available soon."
Gumbo said the meeting discussed the manifesto for the elections and also received a report on the Constitutional Amendment Bill, which will be introduced to parliament next Tuesday.
Highly placed sources say the incumbent Zimbabwean Ambassador to Cuba Dr John Mvundura will be the acting chairman of the province and will be deputised by Retired Brigadier General Mike Nyambuya.
