Zanu-PF team not on a witch hunt, claims Khaya Moyo

The Zanu-PF team that arrives in Masvingo province today [Friday] is not a witch hunt but a mission to ensure that the party gets a resounding electoral victory in the forthcoming polls.
Team leader and party national chairman Simon Khaya Moyo said the team, which also includes Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration Didymus Mutasa and Political Commissar Webster Shamu was visiting Masvingo to listen to the people on how best to oil the machinery ahead of the watershed elections.
"It's true that we are coming to Masvingo tomorrow (today). We are not going there to investigate or on an interrogative mission. We are going to Masvingo to listen to the leadership of the party as to what challenges they are facing.
"We will then compile a report that we will submit to President Mugabe and the Politburo," said Khaya Moyo.
He said his team was going to Masvingo to assess the state of preparedness in Zanu-PF ahead of the crucial elections which the revolutionary party is poised to win.
Khaya Moyo said his team was going to meet with Zanu-PF Politburo, Central Committee and National Consultative Assembly members before they meet the war veterans, ex-detainees and ex-restrictees. He dismissed claims that his team was going to shake up the party's leadership in Masvingo. The team is also expected to meet the party's Provincial Co-ordinating Committee.
"The talk that we are going to Masvingo to shake up the party's leadership there is just not true. We are not on a witch hunt exercise but we simply want to listen to the people."
Khaya Moyo expressed concern over rumours around his team's intentions in Masvingo saying there was nothing special about the visit as the team would also visit other provinces.
"We are not a witch hunting committee at all. I am surprised by what the rumour-mongers are saying in some quarters. The mandate of my team is to listen and after listening I shall present a report to President Mugabe and the Politburo," he said.
