They are hip and full of swag and they are Zanu-PF's new youth movement.

After decades of grey- haired men being the face of the Zanu-PF youth, a new breed is coming on board.

Through fashion, one such "founder" of this youth movement, James Pande, is making a statement that "Zanu-PF is not for old people".

"Our vision is to ensure that all young black Zimbabweans regardless of their totems, political affiliation or religion - meaningfully contribute to the economic development of this resource-endowed nation of Zimbabwe.

"That can only be done by empowering the youths, a vision also being shared by the government," the emerging youth empowerment leader told the Daily News.

Pande together with Herbert Huruba are not only Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC) leaders, they are the brains behind the Hovhorosi style, a clothing label best known for its overalls clothing branded with President Robert Mugabe's signature.

His recent peace-seeking social network post together with the enterprising fashion business marks a clear departure from the usual Zanu-PF youths who are  targeted by some senior politicians to instigate violence.

"Zimbabwe is too rich to be poor, sanctions and greedy politicians must go regardless of their political affiliation; bread and butter issues amongst the youths must be addressed, low cost housing schemes and office space for the youths, Viva Youth Empowerment ..Viva R.G.M Original Hovhorosi style" reads a facebook post by Pande.

Zimbabwe's youth had little political space to manoeuvre in Zanu-PF except being used as shock troopers in violent political campaigns.

To show their commitment to peace and unwavering support for Mugabe, Pande and Huruba recently unveiled a trendy design of white overalls symbolising peace.

They say this is a way of encouraging youths to contribute towards the realisation of maintaining harmony ahead of the upcoming watershed election.
