ZANU-PF youth chairman for Masunda Branch in Waterfalls, Harare, Cosmas Mutukwa, was on Tuesday morning assaulted by four suspected MDC-T youths for wearing his party T-shirt.
The incident occurred at Crest Breeders farm compound after Mutukwa (28) visited his mother while wearing a Zanu-PF T-shirt.
National police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi yesterday confirmed the incident.
"The complainant was approached by the four suspects who asked him why he was wearing his party T-shirt before they assaulted him," he said.
Mutukwa fled the scene and made a report at Waterfalls Police Station.
Chief Supt Nyathi said a few hours later, two MDC-T activists - Royal Mwanza (43) and Luckson Ngwerume (25) - went to the same police station where they also made a report alleging that they had been assaulted by suspected Zanu-PF supporters after being accused of wearing their party caps.
Chief Supt Nyathi said investigations on the case were in progress.
