Stickers of President Robert Mugabe have become a protection measure for motorists as election talk gathers momentum.
The stickers can be seen on commuter omnibuses and private vehicles in areas such as Mbare and Epworth where Zanu-PF militia has, over the years, maintained a heavy presence.
A commuter omnibus driver from Mbare who identified himself as Phillip said: "Zanu-PF youths usually embark on campaigns aimed at weeding out supporters of the MDC from the rank and these stickers are a way of ensuring your stay at the rank as you will be identified with Zanu-PF."
Drivers getting into areas deemed to be Zanu-PF strongholds, such as Mashonaland Central and parts of Mashonaland East like Uzumba have deviced the same strategy as well.
Some of the stickers are written "Bob is My Man" while others have pictures of Mugabe with his feast in the air.
A snap survey at the corner of Fourth Street and Samora Machel Avenue in Harare, showed that most commuter omnibuses plying the Murehwa, Nyamapanda route have the Bob stickers on the windscreens and the back of the rear view mirrors.
In Mbare, the stickers are sold at market stalls under the control of Zanu-PF.
"Allegiance to Zanu-PF is the only way that can guarantee your stay here so we have no option but to put up these stickers," said a vendor.
