The Zanu PF Politburo has expelled former Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe employee, Dr Munyaradzi Kereke from the party.
The decision to expel Dr Kereke was made at the party's Politburo meeting held in Harare this Wednesday to tackle the party's campaign strategy ahead of the harmonised elections set for the 31st of this month.
Dr Kereke was expelled for insubordination after he decided to stand as an independent national assembly candidate for Bikita West constituency in defiance of a directive by the Politburo not to stand because of his pending court cases.
The Politburo said all those who endorsed Dr Kereke's candidature will face disciplinary action.
According to Zanu PF standing regulations, those who stand as independent candidates in any election automatically expel themselves from the revolutionary party.
The Zanu PF Politburo meeting also discussed the party's campaign trail which kicks-off in Mashonaland Central Province.
The party's Secretary for Transport, Cde Nicholas Goche briefed members on the state of affairs regarding logistics during the campaign period.
The Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Rugare Gumbo gave an update on media activities regarding the elections.
