A 31-year-old Chitungwiza man who assaulted his workmate with an iron bar at the height of a heated argument has been jailed for four months.
Misheck Munzvongi (31) of house number 10516 Zengeza 4 pleaded guilty to assault before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini. Mr Jarabini slapped him with a four-month jail term and in sentencing him, he took into account that cases of violence were on the increase.
"Cases of violence are on the increase, so there is a need for these courts to send a correct message to would-be offenders," he said.
Prosecutor Edmond Ndambakuwa proved that on July 4 at around 12pm at Chikwanha Guzha industry, Tendai Mabika (29) of Mayambara Village in Seke who is self-employed as a panelbeater at Chiuya garage, left his workplace unattended.
This was the time Munzvongi came and took Mabika's car bumper without his consent.
Trouble started when Mabika returned and discovered that his bumper was missing.
Upon inquiring, he was informed that it was Munzvongi who had taken it.
Mabika followed Munzvongi to his workplace where he demanded an explanation leading to an argument.
