The head of the Namibian Observer Mission to the recent Zimbabwe elections, Mr Peya Mushelenga has urged the MDC- T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai to accept the outcome of the polls and respect the will of the people.
The remarks by the head of the observer mission follow the denial by Mr Tsvangirai to meet the SADC High Level observer team Friday night.
The team which met President Robert Mugabe at State House on Friday was also expected to hold talks with the losing presidential candidate but was snubbed.
Mr Mushelenga told the state media that acceptance of results by a losing opponent is a virtue for a real statesman and will earn him the respect of the Zimbabweans, the region and Africa as a whole.
"We are saying to Mr Tsvangirai you should accept the will of the people, they voted and the reality is that the will of the majority should be respected," he said.
Turning to the electoral process in the country, Mr Mushelenga upheld the credibility of the polls saying Zimbabweans conducted themselves with maturity and high levels of discipline.
Results indicate that Zanu-PF has garnered a two thirds majority which makes it possible for them to form a new government.
