Zanu-PF finalising indigenisation modalities

Zanu-PF said it is finalising the implementation plans for the indigenisation programmes as envisaged in its elections manifesto and will roll them out once President Mugabe appoints his new Cabinet.
Zanu-PF director in the Department of Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Kurai Masenyama, yesterday said the party was committed to fulfilling the pledges it made before the elections that would see at least US$7 billion being released into the market following the finalisation of indigenisation of foreign companies.
"We are delighted that the imperative to 'Indigenise, Empower, Develop and Create Employment' was endorsed in such an emphatic fashion by the overwhelming majority of Zimbabwean citizens. We are, however, cognisant of the huge work that lies ahead and herein commit that we will implement the indigenisation and economic empowerment programme as outlined in the People's Election manifesto.
We call upon the wider Zimbabwean majority to participate fully in the implementation of an emancipation programme that is fair, equitable, and transparent with broad-based benefits."
Masenyama also urged companies that have not yet complied with the country's empowerment laws to do so urgently. "Furthermore, we encourage those foreign-owned businesses that were reluctant to embrace the programme deriving hope from empty promises of programme reversal and protection from some elements of the now defunct Government of National Unity, to face up to reality and urgently comply fully with the laws of the land as per the wishes of the majority of Zimbabwean people," he said.
Masenyama said the party was now waiting to get down to business once the government was sworn in.
"As a party, we are finalising the implementation plans so that as soon as the Government is inaugurated, we move forward with the implementation," Masenyama said.
