Zanu-PF elects Parliament contestants

A Zanu-PF caucus meeting for recently elected legislators has chosen members to contest for the post of Speaker, Chief Whip, Senate president and their deputies for both houses of parliament.
The process was conducted under the supervision of politburo members at the party headquarters in Harare on Monday.
Jacob Mudenda will contest the post for Speaker of the House of Assembly, while Mabel Chinomona was duly elected to contest for Deputy Speaker.
Edina Madzongwe has retained her right to stand as Senate President, while Chen Chimutengwende will run for Deputy Senate President.
Joram Gumbo will also contest for the post of Chief Whip, while Tambudzani Mohadi will run for the post of Deputy Chief Whip in the Senate.
Mandi Chimene was elected to run for the post of Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Assembly.
Meanwhile, members of the 8th Parliament will be sworn in on Tuesday.
