A pastor at a Pentecostal church in Gwanda Town who physically abused his wife for refusing to have sex with him has been fined $100 or two months in jail.
Thabani Siziba (29) of House Number 157 Senondo Township in Gwanda Town, a pastor at Rock of Abdullum Church, yesterday appeared before Matabeleland South Provincial magistrate Mr Douglas Vakayi Chikwekwe facing a charge of physically abusing his wife, Ms Memory Ndlovu.
Siziba was convicted on his own plea of guilty. On 20 April this year at about 10pm, Siziba and his wife, Ms Ndlovu were in their bedroom getting ready to sleep.
Siziba then asked to have sexual intercourse with his wife. However, Ms Ndlovu refused, saying she was not feeling well.
This did not go down well with the "sex hungry" Siziba who became angry and vigorously pulled her hair and pinched her on the hand.
After noticing her husband's behaviour and failure to understand, Ms Ndlovu went and reported the matter to the police leading to Siziba's arrest.
Ms Ndlovu was sent to Gwanda Provincial Hospital for treatment. Mr Mncedisi Dube represented the State.
