ZANU-PF Mberengwa East National Assembly representative Makhosini Hlongwane, will next Tuesday move a motion in the House calling on Western countries to remove their economic sanctions.
Giving the notice to move the motion yesterday, Hlongwane also said the House should also send the motion with cover letters to the US Congress, the European Union parliament, the European External Action Services and the Australian and New Zealand parliaments imploring them to urge their governments to remove the embargo.
Speaking in an interview yesterday Hlongwane said the motion would show Zimbabweans the illegal nature of the sanctions and how they have affected ordinary people contrary to claims that they were targeted at a few individuals and entities.
"The motion is going to try to locate the unilateral sanctions imposed within the international juridical province. The motion will seek to understand whether the sanctions comply with the full extent of gamut of international law, international humanitarian law and well established international legal best practice," he said.
Hlongwane said the motion would show the ordinary Zimbabweans what President Mugabe means when he say the sanctions are illegal.
