FLAMBOYANT Gokwe Nembudziya MP Justice Mayor Wadyajena was yesterday ordered to pay $1 500 each month towards the upkeep of his 10-year-old daughter.
Harare Civil Court magistrate Milton Serima also ordered him to pay $2 200 towards the girl's school fees.
This was after the Zanu-PF MP's lover Wadzanai Mudare had taken him to court demanding monthly maintenance of $11 600.
Mudare had submitted to the court that her claim against Wadyajena was justified, arguing that the legislator had the financial capacity to pay the bill as he owned eight top-of-the-range vehicles, a thriving goods transport firm with over 100 trucks and owned a residential property in Borrowdale Brook.
"He is the director of Mayor Logistics and I have proof of that and besides, he is an MP who owns a BMW M5, BMW X6, a Range Rover, Jeep Cherokee and a ministerial Land Cruiser, among other cars," Mudare told the court.
However, Wadyajena, through his lawyer Dzikamai Machingura, offered to pay $200 per month, saying he earned $2 500 per month and that Mudare's claim was "unfavourable and unsustainable".
Mudare filed the maintenance claim two weeks ago after the MP returned the child to her accusing her of visiting the girl's school without his consent.
Mudare also said as a result of her visit to the school, the MP declined to authorise the girl to go on a school-organised trip although he had already paid $300 for it.
