THE Zanu PF Midlands provincial elections chaos continued yesterday with some areas in the city conducting a re-run after it emerged that ballot papers had no names on them while others received them late.
The elections were re-run at polling stations in Gweru city centre, Mtapa and Mkoba.
Zanu PF Women's League political commissar Olivia Muchena, who is co-ordinating the elections in the Midlands province, yesterday said she was busy in a meeting, but confirmed that some polling stations had a re-run.
"We found it necessary to re-conduct the elections in some parts after some people received their ballots late, while other ballots had no names of candidates on them," Muchena said.
On Monday, Muchena told journalists that all the electoral processes would be concluded on Wednesday while the final results would be announced today.
The Midlands provincial elections have been marred by reports of rigging, vote-buying and logistical problems, among other irregularities.
