MDC Manicaland Chairman resigns
01 Nov 2013 at 03:58hrs | Views
Sondon "Stalin" Mugaradziko, the Manicaland Provincial Chairperson for MDC led by Professor Welshman Ncube has resigned.
Mugaradziko is said to have quit the party to "pursue personal interests" outside politics.
Sources close to the former chairman however indicate that he may also have been enticed into the ZANU PF juggernaut that is on a massive recruitment of young politicians from opposition parties.
Mugaradziko is the second senior MDC official to leave citing similar reasons and under the same circumstances after policy guru Qhubani Moyo quit the part at the beginning of last month.
He is also the second provincial chairperson of the MDC to fall by the wayside following the dismissal of Matebeleland South Provincial Chairman Petros Mukwena.
Manicaland Province under the chairmanship of Mugaradziko garnered Professor Welshman Ncube the most number of vote in all the provinces and was together with Matebeleland South considered to be the party's strong holds.
With the two chairmen gone it is left to see how the party will recover from this set back.
